Core personality

Shravana is Sanskrit for "listening." Its deity is Vishnu -- in the myth he takes the form of a dwarf and crosses the entire universe in three strides, and one of this nakshatra's symbols is exactly those three footprints: real power can move without noise. The other symbol is more direct -- an ear. You live through your ears: quiet at the dinner table, yet the one who walks away remembering everyone's situation; the first phone call when a friend is in trouble. You learn through the ear too -- a course, a mentor's one-liner, experience overheard in passing -- you digest it into your own and retell it more clearly than the original speaker. Knowledge passes through you and comes out easier to understand; that is the gift of transmission, and your ruling planet, the Moon, lets you hear the part of someone's tone that never made it into words. The cost: you're so practiced at receiving that when it's your turn to speak, you've usually given all the airtime away.

Shravana in love

You're the partner who still remembers something said in passing three months ago -- and being remembered like that is addictive. But listening too well has a side effect: the relationship's content gradually becomes entirely about them, while your own grievances and needs get filed under "not urgent." Eventually your partner doesn't even know whether you're unhappy -- you never said. Practical fix: in every deep conversation, reserve one sentence that starts with "lately I..." and put yourself into the dialogue. You listen to the whole world so carefully; let someone hear you for once.

Work & career

"Explain the hard thing until people get it" is your professional positioning: teaching, translation and interpreting, counseling, interviews and podcasts, knowledge content -- these fields are paying for your ear and your retelling. The Moon tunes you to shifts in tone, so work that reads between the lines -- user research, mediation, senior client relationships -- fits like water. Avoid arenas decided by volume: credit-grabbing, mic-grabbing, momentum-driven rooms will read your subtlety as slowness. Choosing an organization where quiet people still get seen matters more than choosing an industry.

Shadow side

This nakshatra's shadow is the eternal student: one more course bought, books stacking higher, notes kept beautifully -- and never stepping on stage. Listening and studying are safe; the moment you speak or ship, you can be judged, so "I'm not ready yet" keeps you in the audience. The signals are concrete: you already understand the field better than people actually working in it, yet you're enrolling in the next beginner course; your advice to others is excellent while your own projects sit untouched for three years. Input with no outlet eventually becomes inventory pressing on your chest.

A practice for this nakshatra

One thing to do this week: take the thing you've learned recently that moved you most and explain it to one person -- or write it up as a short post. Not polished, just out. The listener's gift is receiving; the homework is passing it on.
